Sibling discount applies only at initial registration and when registered to attend the same session.
Registration incudes: Zoofari t-shirt, water bottle, photo with an animal,
and lunch bag (Pre-K to 3rd grade) or backpack (4th - 8th grade).


Children are grouped by the grade: Pre-K, K-1, 2-3, 4-5, and 6-8
Grade group is according to the grade completed in June, 2024:

Children must be at least 5 years old AND have complete 1 year of of Pre-K.

Proof of grade will need to be uploaded during registration. The following are examples of acceptabe proof of grade. Please note that uploaded documents MUST include the child's first name, last name, and grade.
 
  • Report card
  • Student ID
  • Letter from the child's school on official school letterhead
  • Screenshot of child's DOE MyStudent account
  • MAP Growth Report​
     

The following are NOT acceptable as proof of grade:

  • Birth certificate
  • Photo of the child holding "First Day of School" chalkboard
  • Class photo
  • Note Written on plain paper or post-it

Due to the number of inquiries received, we are no longer able to accommodate requests to place children in the same group. No exceptions

The Staten Island Zoo’s Zoofari Program is now nut-free!  We have many children in the program with allergies, the majority to nut and seed products.  NO FOODS that contain peanuts, almonds, filberts, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios, or walnuts.  This includes:

  • Peanut butter or any other nut butters
  • Nutella
  • Crackers with peanut butter or other nut butter filling
  • Any granola bar, muesli bar, biscuit, trail mix, or other product that lits nuts as an ingredient
  • Cereal with nuts, including Honey Nut Cheerios
  • Candy or cookies containing nuts or peanut butter
  • Anything cooked in peanut oil or other nut oil
  • ​Humus
  • Technina or tahini
  • "Everything" bagels, or bagels with sesame seeds

Please also help us by reading labels to make sure they do not include any of the above ingredients or wording such as “May contain peanuts or tree nuts”, “Processed in a facility that also processes peanuts or tree nuts,” or “Made on equipment that also processes peanuts or tree nuts.”

SESSION 1: JULY 1 - JULY 3

AQUATIC EXPLORERS

Immerse yourself in the fascinating world beneath the waves!  Our first week of the year is dedicated to exploring aquatic environments.  Participants will discover the wonders of underwater ecosystems, learn about freshwater and marine animals, and engage in interactive activities related to hydrology and marine biology.

SESSION 2: JULY 8 - JULY 12
ANIMAL ALLIES

Many animals exhibit remarkable teamwork to enhance their chances of survival. We can learn a lot from looking at these cooperative behaviors. During the week, we’ll have the opportunity to witness examples of animal teamwork and do some fun team building of our own! Do you have what it takes to collaborate?

SESSION 3: JULY 15 - JULY 19
ECO-ENGINEERS

Discover the ingenuity behind animal architecture, from intricate nests to elaborate burrows! During this exciting week, participants will channel this inspiration into designing and building their own animal-friendly structures, exploring the principles of engineering, architecture, and sustainability.

SESSION 4: JULY 22 - JULY 26
ZOO CAREERS

Take a walk on the wild side and learn all about the careers you can have at the zoo! Jump into this week to learn from our staff, get some experience practicing what these animal heroes do, and discover the fascinating behind-the-scenes world of zoo operations.

SESSION 5: JULY 29 - AUGUST 2
ZOO OLYMPICS

Engage in a week of animal-inspired games and challenges! Learn about the physical abilities of difference species and discover their incredible adaptations that make each uniquely suited to their environment. Participate in friendly competitions that highlight the agility, strength, and skill of animals!

SESSION 6: AUGUST 5 - AUGUST 9
BIG APPLE ANIMALS

Embark on a journey to explore the untamed corners of New York City, where wildlife thrives amidst the bustling urban landscape! Participants will step into the role of urban explorers, uncovering the hidden pockets of nature within the city and learning how to coexist with the diverse wildlife that shares our urban spaces.

SESSION 7: AUGUST 12 - AUGUST 16
HIDDEN HEROES

Uncover the often-overlooked roles of smaller creatures in ecosystems! Explore the vital contributions of insects, microorganisms, and other “hidden heroes” to the delicate balance of nature, gaining a profound appreciation for the intricate web of life that sustains our planet.

SESSION 8: AUGUST 19 - AUGUST 23
WILDLIFE GUARDIANS

Do you want to make an impact and help save animals and the places they call home? Then join us for the final week of the year as we discuss how to protect wildlife and wild places. Participants will step into conservation leadership roles, gaining skills and insights needed to become dedicated stewards of our planet.
